Trade Name: U-Mark 

U-Mark started its activities in 1995 in the field of DRTV business being one of the pioneers of this field in the Middle East with an initial capital of SAR500,000.00 (equivalent to US$133,333). By 2001, due to retained profit, we changed the capital to SAR8,000,000 (equivalent to US$2,133,333).

In 1997, the first retail showroom of space not exceeding 50sqm dedicated to selling As Seen on TV products was opened. Since then several showrooms and kiosks are opened on regularly basis making the total number of showrooms and kiosks at present 36.

 In 2001 U-Mark obtained two exclusive agencies; Emjoi and Conair with rights to sell products in the entire Middle East and North African region. In the same year, the distribution network, comprehensive sales team including sales managers, regional sales managers, salesmen, etc. was established. Prior to establishing distribution network, the sales activities were confined in direct selling through retails shops and home delivery services.

U-Mark has achieved a remarkable success in the distribution from the first year; competing in the first class levels with the already existing and well-established international brands such as Braun, Philips, Panasonic, etc. After the tremendous achievements in Saudi Arabia, U-Mark opened its regional office in Dubai, UAE; committed to marketing the abovementioned brands in the Middle East and North African region. Moreover, the company has established U-Mark Dubai Branch dedicated to marketing its other products in UAE.

In the beginning of 2004, U-Mark started a re-evaluation process for its retail shops by adding new lines other than that being advertised on TV.  The new lines include expansion in the Sport & Fitness Equipment and Massage Chairs and Massage Apparatuses. To do so, an exclusive agreements with the right to sell the product in the Gulf States were signed with Life Gear, a company rated number 3 in Taiwan in Sports & Fitness equipment category and other miscellaneous Massage Chairs and Massage apparatuses manufacturers.

 In the end of 2005 U-Mark entered in Bahrain market through establishing U-Mark Bahrain Office in order to distribute Emjoi and Conair in that country. Furthermore, two retail showrooms to market other U-Mark products as well were opened as well.

In 2006, a new line of ladies accessories under the name of ‘U-Qute’ was opened. Currently there are 7 showrooms for this line in prominent malls and markets in Saudi Arabia. In the same year, the company established a TV channel under the name of ‘U-Mark TV Shopping Channel’ and it is broadcasted from Arabsat. This channel is planned to be like QVC in the near future. Besides, during the past 12 years the company has aired its products daily on most of the major Arab satellite channels in like MBC, Future, LBC, Rotana Music, Rotana Cinema, ART, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Emirates, Bahrain, MTV Lebanon, Al Majd etc.

In 2007, the company started manufacturing and marketing its own brand ‘Emjoi Power’ benefiting from the reputation that Emjoi has gained in the Middle East during the past 6 years. The products of this brand include personal care products and small household appliances.

U-Mark Sections:

U-Mark activities comprise of 3 main divisions as follows:

1. Direct Marketing: Through As Seen on TV business which includes TV advertising and home delivery services. There are 3 offices for this business in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam furnished with call centers and home delivery services plus ladies' section call center in Riyadh.

2. Retail Showrooms: Currently the company has 36 showrooms situated in different cities throughout the country such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Khobar, Ihsa, Al-Jubail, Dhahran, Hafr Al-Baten, Madinah, Abha, Khamis Mashait, Buriadah, Al-Ras, Hail and Tabuk.

3. Distribution Network: There are 3 main branches for distribution activities; Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam and 3 sub-branches in Al-Qassim, Madinah and Abha.

4. Warehouses: The central and principal warehouses are based in Riyadh with two main branches in Jeddah and Dammam. The company is in the process of opening new warehouses in Qassim, Madinah and Abha.

5. Maintenance: There is a central service center in Riyadh and other two service centers in Jaddah and Dammam. Small service centers in Qassim, Madinah, Abha and Tabuk are under processing.

Major achievements:

  • The company started with a capital of SAR500,000 (equivalent to US$133,333). Currently, the capital has grown by more that 50 times in form of shareholders equity calculated at book value and by more that when calculated at market value.
  • The company keeps sustainable growth of not less than 30% annually.
  • The turnover in the first year was SAR800,000 (equivalent to US$213,333) where in the last year it was more than SAR76,000,000 (equivalent to US$20,266,666).
  • U-Mark has become well-known and trusted trademark in the whole Middle East Region.
  • The company has offices and retail showrooms in 3 countries; Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Furthermore, there are distributors almost spreading all over the Middle East region.

The Company’s Future Vision in Brief:

 a) Distribution Aspect

  • The company will proceed in the distribution of Emjoi and Conair products but at the same time will concentrate on its own brand Emjoi Power. Currently, there are 13 SKUs of this brand and almost 15 in the queue to be finalized. This trademark has huge potential because of the quality of the product we choose and by the end of 2008; the company’s goal is to carry more than 50 Emjoi Power SKUs. The main advantage of concentrating on Emjoi Power is that the company has the right to sell this brand to world-wide market.

b) Retail Shops Aspect

  • The company is very well known in Sport, Fitness and Massage field and has a goal to become one of the major players in this field in the next 3-5 years. To be able to do this, the company is planning for more coverage, bigger showrooms and adding Sports Clothes, Sport Shoes and accessories which is a huge and tremendous business in the Middle East market. In addition to this, we also want to have a Fitness & Health service centers which will differentiate us from the rest of the market.

c) U-Mark Shopping TV Channel

  • The project of U-Mark Shopping Channel has a huge potential and so far there is no professional and specialized marketing channel in the Middle East region. Our aim is to make the channel a pioneer in professional and specialized marketing way of approach in the region.
